What is EMDR?

EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a powerful and evidence-based therapy approach that can help you reprocess traumatic memories and distressing experiences. Through guided eye movements and other techniques, EMDR allows you to safely confront your past, reduce negative emotions, and develop healthier coping mechanisms.

How can EMDR help you?

EMDR treatment can reduce overwhelming worry, social anxiety, and panic attacks. EMDR can also reduce the symptoms of
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Depression
  • Phobias
  • Grief and loss
  • Chronic pain
  • Relationship problems.

He has a wonderful sense of humor which carries him though trying situations." - Nancy A. Falcon, M.S., Jeffco Family Support Network

What to Expect From EMDR Therapy

EMDR therapy is a collaborative process that takes place over multiple sessions.
  • Sessions are typically one hour in length.
  • Most individuals undergoing EMDR therapy for trauma can expect to need 6 to 12 sessions to see significant improvement.
  • Some individuals with less complex trauma may experience positive results in as few as 3 sessions.
  • For complex or long-term trauma, the treatment may extend to 12 or more sessions, potentially spanning several months.

In our sessions, we will work together to:
  • Identify your goals for therapy.
  • Develop a personalized treatment plan.
  • Learn about EMDR treatment and how it works.
  • Prepare for EMDR processing by creating resources: a grounded, safe space.
  • Process traumatic memories and distressing experiences in a safe and supportive environment.
  • Integrate the EMDR experience into your calm, safe space.
  • Develop coping skills and strategies for managing anxiety and trauma.

Taking that first step towards healing from anxiety, trauma, or PTSD can feel daunting, but you don't have to navigate that journey alone.
